Innovative Service Improves Transfer Credit Process for International Students

PHILADELPHIA, PA — June 27, 2017 – The University of Cincinnati and International Consultants of Delaware (ICD) have partnered to improve the way college credits are transferred from schools outside the U.S.

Some international students enrolling at U.S. universities may have earned credits they would like to transfer from a school outside the U.S. In most cases, these students must wait until after they have committed to a U.S. university to see which credits will transfer. Now, when international students order a Transfer Credit Evaluation from ICD, the academic advisors at the University of Cincinnati will receive a comparability analysis mapped to coursework requirements to help them make decisions regarding which credits to allow for transfer.

“The University of Cincinnati is committed to providing international transfer students a fair assessment of their previous credit, regardless of where in the world it was earned. The new Transfer Credit Evaluation Tool will afford potential UC international transfer students the knowledge required to make an informed decision to attend the University of Cincinnati. Transfer students who know where they fit in their new program are more likely to persist towards graduation at greater rates” said Dr. Jonathan Weller, Director, International Admissions at University of Cincinnati. “We believe this new tool will help international transfer students receive transfer credit more quickly, allow them to make more informed decisions on where and what to study, and ultimately to lead to improved retention and graduation rates”.

“This is a first-of-its-kind program that provides customized, comprehensive information to the University of Cincinnati’s academic advisors to help them with transfer credit decisions for international students,” said Dr. Franklin Shaffer, Chief Executive Officer of International Consultants of Delaware. “This service is timely in view of students’ mobility worldwide and many of them come to U.S. campuses having completed some credits elsewhere.”

ICD’s Transfer Credit Evaluation provides a detailed analysis of an applicant’s academic transcripts, course descriptions and grades. This extensive analysis will help advisors make informed decisions in a timely manner. A Course-By-Course evaluation is still required for admission purposes.

Transfer Credit Evaluation is only available to University of Cincinnati applicants at this time, but ICD plans to offer it to other universities in the coming months. For more information, contact ICD’s Business Development team here.
